Dear Prayer Warriors in Christ,

Today (May 8) in the early morning, when our Bible College was in session for the first period of classes, one of our married student's wife Rachel was wailing and yelling frantically, and running to her husband's classroom. In her arms, her 2-year-old son Caleb was laying lifelessly. Immediately, the boy was rushed to the nearby hospital. However, the doctors announced his death on arrival. Caleb had choked on a bottle cap. Due to the tragedy, it's necessary for our school to cancel the whole day's classes for a special prayer meeting. No one would expect a day starting like this, so all of the students were in shock.

The family was one of the host families to host our discovery team in April. We had a special Kalenjin night with the whole family. Caleb was the only and firstborn son to Laban and Rachel. We ask you to pray for them. They are in mourning and preparing a burial back at their homeland. Moreover, they have to cope with the pressure and tough questions from their relatives, "How come God would allow such a thing to happen, even when people follow His will?" It may be the question for all of our young students inside their minds. However, Laban prayed, "Father, You gave us this child, now You have taken him away. It's in Your sovereignty. I believe You will again bless Rachel and me with more kids, may Your name be praised." As faculty members, we taught him Biblical knowledge (the book of Job) but he taught us about faith.

Would you lift up Laban, Rachel, their families and all of the students in your prayers? Ask that God's comfort and strength will be with them. The burial service at their homeland will become a great witness to God among the village people.

By the way, Antonia, Grace, and Tim are having a severe flu at the moment. Tim was absent from school for seven days. At the first five days, he barely ate or drank. Praise the Lord, today he is improving greatly. Please pray for a quick recovery for us!

May the Lord bless you with a meaningful weekend!

Because of Christ,

James & Antonia Hwang
